Abstract:
We describe a novel two channel photometric restoration technique and
its implementation as an IRAF task called GIRA. This new method is
particularly suited to stellar photometric measurements in crowded
fields or in images where an extended background is present. We
applied the current implementation of this technique to realistic, and
extremely crowded, simulated sets of V and I images which were based
on the core region of the globular cluster NGC6712. The results of
these tests are presented here.
